This 1970 Boss 302 was sold by Metro to John Schieffer of Carroll, Iowa on July 17, 2003. He recently emailed us with pictures of the restored Boss. We we impressed with the results of the restoration and with the fact that he completed the project is less that a year. We asked John to provide more details and pictures of his restoration for posting on our projects page. We appreciate John taking the time to share theses with us and congratulate him on a job will done.

I'm a 37 year
old self-employed mustang nut. I've owned nearly 30 mustangs of all years
and models including two Bosses and two Cobrajets. Owning an auto
trim and graphics shop and having been an ASE certified autobody tech for
12 plus years has given me the ability to fix these cars up with the exception
of the drivetrains which I leave to the experts.
Most of the cars I buy are torn apart when I purchase them. I get the most out of bringing them back to life, so-to-speak. This boss was no exception. The 302 Boss is one of my all time favorites. Why? Well, it has a racing heritage and a powerful small block motor. A wolf in sheep's clothing, the Boss has a solid lifter cam motor that cranks out the power. The looks you get behind the wheel are worth the time it takes to restore one alone. This Boss had a few more options than most do and I have a hard time passing up a good deal on a clean Boss Mustang. I rebuild my cars to be very nice to high quality drivers. I felt this Boss would fit that criteria. The real joy I get is from finishing these cars and putting them back on the road. In saying that, this will not be my last mustang. In the near future I hope someone who loves mustangs as much as I do can own and enjoy this 70 Boss 302. |

Now for an overview of the car:
This 70 Boss
302 is one of the cleanest I've owned. Along with the car came a
file of receipts and paperwork dating back late 70’s to present. Included
was the build sheet in very good condition. The car had many Ford,
NOS and replacement parts including the hood, most of the suspension and
steering components. I have also compiled nearly 300 pictures of
the restoration progress including individual pictures of all the parts
that were either Ford, original used, or reproduction.
The following options were /are still present on this Metuchen built Boss (except for the tires):
